Our Evenings

This was the November read for the Electric House book club, and I really enjoyed the discussion afterwards!

The novel spans from the 1960s to the present day, following David Win’s journey from schoolboy to professional actor. I particularly enjoyed the shifting perspectives of Britain evolving through his eyes over the decades. While the narrative felt a bit overextended at times and lacked a driving plot, Hollinghurst’s prose is, as always, absolutely wonderful. It’s a slow, meditative and beautifully written read.
